Enabling Activities for the Formulation and Implementation of a Multisectoral National Adaptation Plan (MNAP) for Belize.

The National Climate Change Office through the Ministry of Sustainable Development and Climate Change, in collaboration with the Protected Areas Conservation Trust and the Ministry of Economic Development, continues in its activities for National Adaptation Planning under the Green Climate Fund’s (GCF) Readiness Project “Enabling Activities for the Formulation and Implementation of a Multisectoral National Adaptation Plan (MNAP) for Belize” for 5 priority sectors (Health, Tourism, Agriculture, Forest and Land Use, Human Settlement and Infrastructure).
Along with its other activities, the Youth, Gender, and Social Assessments are essential for national planning. The project currently engages in focus group consultations across Belize that aim to Develop a National Youth, Gender, and Social Assessment for climate change adaptation needs to identify national adaptation needs based on gender, age, and other social considerations/dynamics. The National Youth, Gender, and Social Assessment will include key considerations and recommendations for incorporating needs into multisectoral national adaptation planning and its roadmap and ensure the integration/mainstreaming of social considerations into all actions/activities proposed for this MNAP.
